6 Best Seafood restaurants in Galveston

6 Best Seafood Restaurants In Galveston

Galveston, Texas is a coastal city on the Gulf of Mexico. It is no surprise that it has some of the best seafood restaurants in the state. In this blog, I am showcasing the 6 best seafood restaurants in Galveston:

1. Gaido’s Seafood Restaurant

Gaido’s Seafood Restaurant is a Galveston institution. I has been in business since 1911. From that day forward, Gaido’s popularity as the freshest fish house on the Gulf grew from S.G. Gaido’s unwavering commitment to serve only the best. The Gaido family has always remained passionate about food with their focus on taste.

Today, they still peel Gulf shrimp, shuck Galveston Bay oysters and fillet fresh fish, by hand, the same way SG did more than 100 years ago.  Their unique sauces, seasonings, salad dressings and delicious desserts are all house-made from time-tested family recipes. And over the decades, they have blended in traditional southern deep-frying, Southwest open-flame grilling and rich Creole flavors. By infusing these wonderful surrounding cultures, Gaido’s creates a menu and an experience unlike any other perched on the seawall. Gaido’s also has a full bar with a wide selection of cocktails and wines.

Gaido’s tables are always set for guests, their service is always personal, and their ingredients are always the freshest on the Island.

Carlos was our awesome server. We got to sit in the Bay Area and see the ship next door. Great views of the harbor. Very nice atmosphere in the upstairs dining area. It was lunch time so we opted to split a meal. The fish platter came with broiled fish, crab cake, shrimp, rice and veggies. Excellent plating. Very speaking and tasted great. Amazing lunch at an amazing place. Check out the bread pudding dessert. It was huge!

4. The Spot

The Spot is a casual seafood restaurant located in the historic Strand District of Galveston. The restaurant is owned by Dennis Byrd, local resident and BOI. Dennis purchased the restaurant in 2002. The Spot founders bought and built the restaurant in 1998 from three old vacant houses that we scheduled to be demolished. The land was prime property. The houses were moved and The Spot was born.

Dennis Byrd began his career at The Spot when it originally opened, working his way up from dishwasher to delivery boy, cashier to cook. He learned the ropes of the restaurant business, and accomplished his dream of owning a restaurant by purchasing the only restaurant he had ever worked in. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere and a large outdoor patio. The menu features a variety of seafood dishes, including Gulf oysters, shrimp, and fish. The Spot also has a full bar with a wide selection of cocktails and wines. With Dennis at the helm, The Spot has grown, expanding year after year to become, well, Island Famous.

Still a favorite spot on the island.

Portions are plentiful! Food still consistent in quality and taste shrimp po-boy was tasty after a day on the beach.

8 nice sized shrimp fried just right, dressed with tomatoes, lettuce, and mayonnaise. Ask for cocktail sauce it gives the sammy a delicious kick, comes in a big refrigerated squirt bottle. Sandwich is paired with a side offering, 8 hush puppies was my choice dipped in tarter sauce.

Plenty of parking around back if you can’t find street side.

They now have two air conditioned rooms to dine in, the middle patio area has gone through a lot of renovations to be comfortable to enjoy your meal outside even during our heat dome days of summer. Tons of high blasting fans and fully shaded.

Highly recommend!
