A new Galveston Veteran’s Outpatient Clinic is coming! The facility will be located in the space formerly occupied by shaved ice seller Bahama Buck’s in the commercial center Piazza Blanca, 500 Seawall Blvd. Galveston. Demolition crews this week were knocking down walls and building up buzz as they worked to renovate the space.
NEW GALVESTON VETERAN’S OUTPATIENT CLINIC CONFIRMED BY SEASONS REALTY
Work at the 53,760-square-foot center is to make way for an 8,000-square-foot Veterans Affairs outpatient clinic, confirmed John May, who is in the property management division of Seasons Realty Inc., which owns the commercial center adjacent to condominiums Emerald by the Sea.
The outpatient clinic will provide such services as health and wellness visits for military veterans. It will be more modern than, and replace the one at 3828 Ave. N, island architect Michael Gaertner said. Tim Cisneros of Houston-based Cisneros Design Studio designed the clinic space and Gaertner is acting as a liaison between the owner and the city on permitting and other matters.

Piazza Blanca was an ideal place to move the clinic, which helps veterans avoid the hassles of going to larger medical centers, May said. VA officials preferred it because it’s on the protective seawall and not at a high risk for flooding, May said.
SEASONS REALTY ACQUIRES PIAZZA BLANCA
In late 2007, Prudential Mortgage Capital foreclosed on the property after Piazza Blanca owner 500 Seawall I Ltd. defaulted on a $13.8 million loan, marking one of the largest local foreclosures in recent memory. Seasons Realty Inc. acquired the property in 2011.
NO UPDATE ON OPENING OF VETERANS OUTPATIENT CLINIC
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is charged with providing lifelong healthcare services to eligible military veterans at the 170 VA medical centers and outpatient clinics in the country.
